Paul Augustine, an antique collector, appears in Lindsey's chapter in 1984 AD. Secretely Pious Augustus in disguise, Paul funds Lindsey's exhibition in the hopes of finding the Essence of Mantorok. When they arrive at the Cambodian temple in Angkor Thom, Paul attempts to kill Lindsey before revealing himself as Pious and commanding a Gatekeeper to kill the archaeologist.

It is possible that Pious goes by the same name in Paul Luther's chapter, when in disguise as the head monk of the Oublie Cathedral. Paul and the other monks refer to him as Augustine, though his first name is never mentioned
