The Gladius is a recurring weapon throughout the events of Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem.
History[]
Description[]
A strong sword capable of delivering strong damage to foes. Like other weapons, it can be enchanted for more strength towards a certain alignment.
Before the final battle against Pious Augustus, it is possible to wield a permanently enchanted Gladius magickally aligned with the currently played fate's weakness alignment. It is not possible to wield this powerful enchanted Gladius when playing in Eternal Mode.
Appearances[]
The Gladius is first seen during the prologue, hanging above a wall inside the secret chamber where the Tome of Eternal Darkness is first discovered. Alex can acquire the weapon before reading the Tome of Eternal Darkness. Regardless, she will need to obtain the Gladius as it is required to open a sealed door within the kitchen.
The Gladius is immediately next seen in the Tome's first chapter, wielded by Pious Augustus. He uses this Gladius to slice his way through the many Mantorok Zombies of the buried ancient city and eventually attacks his own statue to pieces before reaching the shrine of the artifacts. What became of his Gladius after he succumbed to the power of his chosen ancient is unknown. It is strongly believed that the same Gladius that Alex can wield is perhaps the same one Pious Augustus once wielded.
