Anthony is a Frankish messenger for Charlemagne. His chapter takes place inside the Bell Tower of Oublié Cathedral in 814 AD. He is ordered to deliver a message to his liege, a message that consumes Anthony in some corrosive magick which alludes to treachery in store for the Frankish emperor, appropriately named: Charlemagne the Frank(SHARL-UH-MAIN). Upon recieving the curse from the scroll, it's obvious that overtime, Anthony slowly starts to decopose, making him look more and more like a Zombie as his stage progresses(Hence the term "corrocisive magick"). The level of decomposition can range up to him looking dead for about a day(i.e. the beginning of the level once he goes upstairs) and all the way to looking like he's been dead for about a year or two (i.e Near the very end of the level, once he needs to finally run back to warn Charlemagne). He learns that the monks, led by Pious Augustus are plotting against the emperor, and is informed by a monk that the Bishop might be behind it all. Thus, Anthony begins his dangerous journey as he goes deeper and deeper into the Old Tower's underground halls and chambers, which further proves that the monks are indeed involved! After slaying the many horrid creatures and continuing to fester by his curse, Anthony finally confronts the Bishop in the deepest part of the Tower, whom looks equally decomposted as Anthony up to this point. Perhaps he was the one that made the scroll, and had suffered the spell's dangerous side effects while going through the trouble to make it, but it may remain a mystery... The Bishop greets Anthony by assuming that he's come to return his book (aka the scroll, confirming that he WAS the one that created it) and for Anthony's effort, he'd promise him a swift and merciful death (which probably could of been a better fate than what's currently happening to Anthony) and thus, they begin to battle. This proves to be Anthony's most challenging battle, as the Bishop can take alot punishment and constantly drains his Santiy Meter, plus he has two greater zombies fighting for him, depending what ancient the player is against, and to top it off, the room itself is small, and thus is too crowded to normally fight. But, Anthony manages to overcome the sinister Bishop and his minions and grabs his key to the chamber Charlemagne his attending in. The corrosive magick makes one last attempt to slow Anthony down by making decompose one last time and slows Anthony down at a snails pace, and making him almost unable to hold up his sword(His skin practically falling off his face at this point). He is confronted with the first Horror the player faces in the game at the first location one where he starts to decompose. After the battle with the Horror, Anthony fight one last grueling battle with lesser Mantarok zombies. Finally, Anthony shambles as fast as he can to the door Charlemagne is in, and finally enters the room to finally complete his grueling and seemingly long journey. But, after all his fighting, after all the unreal physical, mental, and emotional damage he took by the very darkness he is trying to save his emperor from, Anthony discovers a groups of monks and the cold, lifeless corpse of the emperor he desprately tried to save, and is too late to save him... Anthony reaches out to his Emperor before suffering another attack from the corrosive curse that is within him, collapsing and remarking that he failed him... The head monk describes that he was a fool for trying to save him and Charlemagne's fate was decided many centuries ago, and finishes with saying that despite Anthony's faith, there was little to save him from the power of Chattur'gha/Xel'lotath/Ulyaoth (depending on who the player is against) before a bone theif bursts from his chest, indicating that perhaps ALL of the monks were bone theives, with that, the chapter ends When Paul Luther finds Anthony centuries later, he rises as a zombie-like creature and hisses "Charlemagnnnne..." and readies his sword, under the control of the Darkness. It is believed that Anthony is either possesed by some molevelant force, or is tricked by the darkness that he is under the delusion that he is protecting his late Emperor from a new threat. It takes two tried for Paul to finally take him down and with that, Paul defeats him. The Franciscan Monk prays for the Anthony's long tortured soul, touching his chest. Paul then experiences perhaps all Anthony has went through in his time fighting and suffering from the darkness, knowing just how far the darkness can go on making mere mortal souls suffer...With that, Paul takes the young tragic hero's sword and a gem jammed within Anthony's eye-socket that is needed to proceed. After all those years of stewing in his own guilt as well as pain and suffering, Anthony can now finally rest... In peace... Anthony reappears in spectral form in 2000 AD to assist Alex in the final battle, wanting revenge like his other tortured brethren.

An uncursed Anthony

Anthony is a Frankish messenger for Charlemagne. His chapter takes place inside the Bell Tower of Oublié Cathedral in 814 AD. He is ordered to deliver a message to his liege, a message that consumes Anthony in some corrosive magick which alludes to treachery in store for the Frankish emperor, appropriately named: Charlemagne the Frank(SHARL-UH-MAIN).
